You’re a great mom. You love to see your love bugs’ faces light up when you surprise them with the latest advances in toy technology. What you don’t love, for obvious reasons, are phrases like “some assembly required” or “batteries not included.”

Fortunately, with My First Autobahn, you won’t have to worry about any of that. My First Autobahn is simple adhesive tape marked with road stripes and divider lines to look like a racetrack. There’s even a little car to get them started (as if they don’t have hundreds already!). With 108 feet of tape, you can create a motor speedway so long that it will keep the kiddos occupied and out of your hair for hours.

Not that that’s why you’re doing it.

How many times have you looked at one of your monkey’s coloring books and thought, “Well, I could do that. Maybe next time, I’ll save a few bucks and make one myself.”

But where is that coloring book of your dreams now? Probably somewhere in the idea graveyard with your ergonomic umbrella handle and your clip-on bangs.

Fortunately, Portland-based artist Joel Henriques had the same idea and actually did something about it. Henriques drew up some little people and buildings and put up the sketches on his much-loved blog, Made by Joel. You can download the templates for free, then just print them out and watch the kids go crayon crazy.

The money you save should just cover that sandwich – who says there’s no such thing as a free lunch?

You’ve mastered the fine art of taking out the trash. You can follow the World Cup just as well as the next guy. You’ve even been known to help out with his necktie. Now, if DH could only change a diaper half as well as you can change a light bulb!

Your skill set is unisex, why isn’t his?

Maybe because he grew up before Baby GoGo dolls provided an alternative to gender-biased toys and helped boys to understand that it’s okay to nurture. Outfitted in gender neutral clothing, Baby GoGo dolls prepare kids for their roles as older siblings (and, one day, parents) by teaching them the fun side of nurturing.

The diaper blow outs, sleepless nights and Ghostbuster worthy spit-ups can wait till they’re a bit older and don’t scare quite as easy.

Look what your grandma brought you, honey…it’s bubbles!

What have you got in that goodie bag, angel? Ooh, more bubbles!

Uncle Jack couldn’t make it for your birthday, sweetie, but he sent a gift. Have a guess what it is…

If it’s gotten so that you just have to mention the word “bubbles” to see your tot’s eyes glaze over with that been-there-done-that, is-that-all-you-got? look, then the time has come for an upgrade.

We’re talking about Les Bulles d’Agathe – scented bubbles from Parisian perfumier Francis Kurkdjian. Having filled the fountains of Versailles with his scented bubbles back in 2007 and 2008, Kurkdjian has finally come out with three varieties for children: Cut Herbs, Cold Mint and Pear.

Bubbles fit for a king? Now that should be chic enough for even the most blasé bébé.

Once upon a time, you had tape and you had stickers. And never the twain would meet.

Stickers were a magical world onto themselves. There were puffy ones. Googly eyed ones. Fuzzy ones. Shiny ones. Scratch-and-sniff…The possibilities were endless and you don’t need us to tell you that these were studiously collected and housed in albums for possible trading or just plain showing off.

Meanwhile, your poor old tape just looked on from the sidelines…sniff sniff.

Thanks to Our Children’s Gorilla, the discrimination is over. A sticker tape version of Mr. Potato Head, the Sticky Tape Faces boast a variety of facial features that kids can mix and match to create their own unique designs. By combining the excitement of stickers with the functionality of tape, Our Children’s Gorilla Sticky Tape Faces have taken tape out of its misery – and made stickers more fun than ever!

Nothing takes the joy out of a good game of peek-a-boo quite like the sudden realization that just because your eyes are closed doesn’t mean you’re invisible. It’s a rude awakening, to be sure, but it doesn’t have to spell the end of fun as they know it.

With the Nature Kaleidoscope Glasses, you can quickly provide Junior with a new and exciting way of taking in the scenery. Made of wood and available in both butterfly and frog shapes, the Nature Kaleidoscope Glasses harness the power of prisms to turn the world into a magical land of make believe.

What better way to mitigate some of that “what do you mean you can still see me???” disappointment.

Dollhouses, birdhouses, doghouses…kids love miniature homes so much, it’s a wonder no one has ever done a study to get to the bottom of this universal obsession.

But of all the mini-houses favored by little ones, perhaps none holds as much fascination as the treehouse.

The only problem? Three little words: “Some assembly required.” So unless you want to promise hubby a year’s worth of, er, back rubs in exchange for his hard work, you’re better off opting for the mini treehouse.

Made out of cardboard, this quasi treehouse is not only the perfect rainy day coloring project, but it’s just the starter tree home the little ones need to prep them for the treehouse of their dreams.

You can’t help it. Every time they start in on getting a pet, it’s all you can do not to bust out with your best Jack Nicholson: You want a pet? You can’t handle a pet!

Before you order a Code Red on the poor moppets, ask yourself: Is there any way you can make these relentless demands work for you?

Now, there is. It’s called Box for the Birds and not only will it keep the kids busy for an entire afternoon, but it may just throw them off the doggy trail for months. A brilliantly designed wooden birdhouse, Box for the Birds is a snap to assemble (no glue or nails necessary!) and fun to paint.

But best of all, it actually works. Just put your finished Box for the Birds outside and your little chicks will have a birdie in no time.
